PXP is a campaign to curb the trade of small weapons . We organized a voluntary weapon donation in Culiacán, a city in western Mexico, where 1527 guns were melted and made into 1527 shovels to plant 1527 trees. Currently we are working to replicate the project in more cities. This website is an archive of our story and tree plantings.
Hello Mr. Reyes, I am a composer and record producer here in New York, and I heard about your project on Radio 360. Incredibly moving and powerful work. I am also the coordinator of a Media Arts program at a community college in the South Bronx, where I know your work would be incredibly well received. In the interview, there was mention of being in Pittsburgh in October, and I wonder if a performance/talk would be possible here at Hostos Community College. I would very much like to speak to you to see if there is a way that: 1) I could entice you to make the journey, and 2) arrange for a means of working with your instruments in my own work.
Palas por Pistolas is now in it's second phase. During 2012/2013 we are conducting a Bi-National Planting effort across the US and Mexico to plant more trees and raise awareness about gun and drug related violence both sides of the border.
