Denver Planting: Biennale of the Americas

As part of the 2010 Biennale of the Americas, the Denver Art Musuem hosted the ‘The Nature of Things’ curated by Paola Santascoy.  Installed in the newly renovated McNichol’s Building, Reyes’ Palas por Pistolas was featured among 24 artists, architects and designers from North, South and Central America. The Denver Art Museum and Mile High Millenium Tree Initiative, invited local Carson Elementary School to partake in the tree planting that took place during the exhibition.  Crowds of people, including school teachers, PTA members and young students, took to the shovels and planted numerous trees on the school grounds.  The school welcomed the initiative to remove guns from streets of Mexico and create a greener environment.  As one young pupil stated, “It’s helping the world and giving the world much more oxygen”.

Como parte de la Biennale de las Américas 2010, el Museo de Arte de  presenta “The Nature of Things” de Paola Santascoy, instalada en el recientemente renovado edificio McNichol’s. Palas por Pistolas, de Pedro Reyes, figuró entre 24 artistas, arquitectos y diseñadores de América.   El Museo de Arte de Denver y Mile High Millenium Tree Initiative, invitaron a la escuela primaria local Carson para participar en la plantación de árboles que se llevó a cabo durante la exposición. Una multitude de personas, incluyendo maestros, miembros del PTA y jóvenes estudiantes, tomaron las palas y participaron en la plantación de numerosos árboles en dicha  escuela.   La escuela dió la bienvenida a la iniciativa para eliminar las armas de las calles mexicanas y crear un ambiente más verde. Un joven estudiante comentó: “Se trata de ayudar al mundo y darle mucho más oxígeno”
